Equipment Guidelines
Each presentation room will be equipped with an LCD projector with VGA cable and a power cord.  PCs and internet access will not be provided in these rooms; presenters will be expected to bring their own laptops with presentation materials loaded. Overhead slide projectors and internet access will NOT be available in presentation rooms. In addition to loading your presentation materials on your laptop, as a backup, we recommend that you also save these files to a USB memory stick or CD and bring these with you.

Competititve Papers Presentation Guidelines
Note that all 3-paper sessions are 75 minutes long and allow ample time for audience interaction. Authors will typically have 20 minutes to present each paper, and the remaining 15 minutes are used for dialogue between presenters and the audience.  Please adhere to the time you are allotted so that each paper will have equivalent time for presentation and discussion. Session Facilitators have some discretion here. If a facilitator has other timing in mind, he/she should advise the presenters as soon as possible.

Case Presentation Guidelines
Following are some basic guidelines that you should follow in preparing your presentation:
  1. Provide an overview of the case including the basic storyline, background on the characters, and research methodology used (field research, secondary research, combination, etc.).  Also discuss the results if the class has been classroom tested.  You may want to provide pictures in a PowerPoint format to enable the other session participants to see aspects of the organization, products, services, etc.
  2. Discuss the teaching objectives and the course(s) appropriate for the case to be used in.  Also include the level of targeted student (undergraduate, graduate, or both).
Discuss the highlights of the teaching notes, including the type of questions provided, additional research materials provided, teaching approach suggestions, and epilogue if provided.

Facilitator Guidelines
Your role is to keep the session on time and moderate/spark a vigorous discussion between the audience and the presenters.
  • DON'T give the standard boilerplate about time, and take up too much time doing it; tell the presenters the rules before the session.
  • DO start out with a few words about the subject matter of the session and how each paper will contribute toward exploring that research domain.
  • You must shut down inexperienced or unprepared presenters who do not conform to the prescribed time limits.
  • Please allow ample time for audience interaction. For example, if a session has 3 papers, allow authors 20 minutes to present each paper, and use the remaining 15 minutes for dialogue between presenters and the audience.
