USASBE 2009 - USASBE FACULTY AND CENTER STAFF DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The USASBE Faculty Development Scholarship Program provides $150 toward the total registration fee of $525 for the 2009 Conference for new and emerging entrepreneurship faculty and Entrepreneurship Center staff.  The Program which is new this year offers participants the opportunity to be part of the nation’s largest single academic meeting of its kind alone with the following benefits:

  • Attendance at USASBE’s annual conference being held in Anaheim, California January 8 – 11, 2009.
  • Special conference workshop modeled after the curriculum of the Syracuse University’s “Experiential Classroom” clinic.
  • Opportunity to network on an ongoing basis with faculty and Entrepreneurship Center staff from over 52 states and territories representing various fields of entrepreneurship.
  • Subscription to Journal for Small Business Management, Entrepreneurial Theory and Practice and to Entrepreneur Magazine.
  • Opportunity to participate and join Special Interest Groups covering ten discipline fields, ranging from Pedagogy and Teaching to Social Entrepreneurship, providing exposure to discipline specializations and fields of interest.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CRITERIA:

Entrepreneurship Faculty and Center Development Scholarships are based on the following criteria:
  • Applicant’s school must: (1) have an established entrepreneurship curriculum of study or an established Entrepreneurship Center, or (2) be in the process of creating such a curriculum or Center with implementation plans beginning within twelve months of January 8, 2009.
  • Applicant must (1) have spent two years or less when considering both any time spent teaching entrepreneurship and spent in a staff member position at an Entrepreneurship Center or (2) be a recent doctoral graduate entering the discipline for the first time.
  • Applicant must submit Letter of Nomination from College Dean or Departmental Chair attesting to qualification pursuant to above criteria.
  • Applicant must attend The Experiential Classroom Workshop, scheduled during the Conference, and must be in attendance at the Conference Thursday evening through Sunday noon.
  • Applicant must have paid all applicable Conference registration fees in full ($525) prior to the start of the Conference.  Scholarship reimbursement ($150) will be paid upon submission of reimbursement request following the Conference.
